Kingston Hospital in South West London recently gave us a challenge to create a parents retreat in the children’s courtyard play area.
Before embarking on the design, we met with Kingston Hospital and Momentum, a charity supporting children with cancer and life-limiting conditions, to discuss what they wanted to achieve in the children’s courtyard and how we could help. The brief was to create a secure retreat for the parents of all children supported at the hospital by Momentum.
Following the initial meeting, we undertook a site visit to help us create a design and firm quotation to present to Kingston Hospital and Momentum. They were delighted with the design and our experienced craftsmen began to create the products in our workshop. All the timber was carefully examined to ensure that all the sharp edges were taken off to prevent any injuries to the children.
The finished project featured bespoke Western Red Cedar vertical slatted panels fixed on top of a low circular wall to create a curved fence, along with a slatted security coded gate, creating a safe and attractive secluded area for the parents to escape to when needed.
Watch our time lapse video below to show the installation of the fencing and the completed project.
