Stud Fixing for Trellis and Slatted Fence Panels

Step 1

Use a string line to provide a guide for the position of the posts. Drill hole in top edge of wall with a drill bit 2mm larger than the metal stud i.e 12mm stud – use a 14mm drill bit.

We do not recommend installing panels that are taller than 900mm in this fashion.

Step 2

Due to quick drying nature of Epoxy resin, it is advisable to carefully mark out and drill all the holes first, then use the Epoxy resin and fix as many posts as possible in one go. Remember to work quickly as the glue is mixed in the nozzle and will quickly set if not continually used.

Step 3

Insert stud into hole taking care to make it as level as possible.
N.B Once the resin has set the post can be moved slightly for minor adjustment.

Step 4

Please check that tops of each post are at a uniform height, unless there is a change in heights required.

Step 5

Screw panels into posts using 4.5mm x 50mm stainless steel screws (minimum of two per side).

TRELLIS:
Through the frame into the side of the post.

Ensure the top of each panel is level.

SLATTED:

Through the gap between slats (if possible), or directly through the horizontal slat. Slatted panels fix onto the FACE of the posts.

Ensure the top of each panel is level. Additional panels meet over the centre of the post, with the first and last sitting flush at the ends.

Step 6

If installing top capping:

TRELLIS:
Align with the front edge of the post and screw down through the capping and into the top of the panel frame using 4.5mm / 5mm x 100mm stainless steel screws (this can be plugged and filled if preferred).

SLATTED:
Align with front slat of panel and screw down into top of posts and centre vertical (if possible) using 4.5mm / 5mm x 100mm stainless steel screws (this can be plugged and filled if preferred).
